Meet Hortensia Arias, Northern Argentina lifestyle specialist.

We are happy to introduce you to Hortensia, a content maker and local host in Northern Argentina, also founder of Estilo DV, a specialized lifestyle blog where she shares with us her favorite picks to travel along Salta and Jujuy her homeland.

We hope you follow her tips and enjoy reading about this meeting.

“We wish that those who live or visit this region can feel that Estilo DV is their ally in getting unique tips which will fully enrich their experience.”

What does the Northwest of Argentina mean to you? It is my roots, a combination of landscapes, colours, textures and scents, and a great baggage of stories and customs that have made me who I am.

What do you want to transmit with Estilo DV? Estilo DV was born with the aim of showing, exhibiting, sharing and getting closer to those things that inspire me and that I would like others to enjoy as well. It can be a landscape, a story from someone inspiring, a cooking recipe or a wine… a flower, a scent, a custom.

A must in Salta? On September 15th, the “Procesión del Señor y de la Virgen del Milagro”. On that festivity, you will experience the humility and deep faith of the people, pilgrims from all over the province walk down day-long circuits to honour their Patron Saints.

A must in Jujuy? A visit to the Salinas Grandes.

If you are coming with your couple, what shouldn´t you miss? To travel along the Calchaqui Valleys, enjoying stunning landscapes, wineries and staying in a small charming hotel.

And in a family plan? A horseback riding at Finca Usuri Turismo is ideal to enjoy with the family, experiencing the authentic ‘gauchos’ from Salta; or two days at Estancia El Bordo de las Lanzas with a cooking class included. And a visit to the Yacare Reserve; you can get there by riding Peruvian horses.

A restaurant in Salta? I love La Casona del Molino, the food is quite simple but when you get there early in the evening, it is an authentic experience that includes folklore singers, candles and colonial patios. It is not a typical touristy spot; over there you can share with locals their love for traditional music and dance.

You cannot leave the ‘Norte’ without tasting… Empanadas, humita (sweet corn cream), and tamales (local cuisine).

People in the North are… simple, kind and a little bit introverted. The North contains much poetry and many interesting artists.

What can you expect when coming to Salta and Jujuy…Stunning landscapes, the origins of Argentina’s history, the mixture of ancient traditions with Spanish influence.

What do you wish for all travellers to take from this experience? Memories of a trip that has awakened their senses and got to know our authentic Argentina.

If the North was..

A scent.. that of the Calchaqui Valleys, a blend of spices and pure air.

A colour… blue from the sky.

An element…the “tiento” (leather before complete treatment)

A texture…the ‘llama wool’ (animal) blankets.

A song….’Si por Jujuy’ by Carrillo brothers.
